Linda Ambre's Avon Walk for Breast Cancer 2003 - PORTLAND, OR

This is not just a walk. And not just a sporting event to raise money. It is a journey, a challenge, and a cause.

This event will change the lives and attitudes of every walker, crew member and volunteer. We will be taken out of our normal living conditions and be asked to walk many miles in 2 days, sleep in tents, shower in semi-trucks and reach our pledge commitment of $1750.

For the next 5 months, I will be training and talking to people to reach that goal. I will push myself harder so I can make a difference.

I walk for my daughter, my neices, my sister-in-laws and my friends so that a cure can be found before they have to face this disease -- and for the many women that are already fighting their battle with breast cancer.

This walk is also for that sweet elderly woman last year watching all of us walk by and who grabbed my hand and quietly whispered --"thank you...I'm a survivor".

Don't ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.
